April Showers Bringing May Flowers

I guess the old adage about April showers bringing May flowers is true. I hope we all take time to enjoy all the beautiful flowers and trees all over Macon and especially at our own CSI. Aren’t they just beautiful! The daffodils planted by the Ilans are just beginning to peek out and should be another addition to our beautiful yard! This past Sunday was a beautiful and memorable Yom HaShoah program. I hope you were able to participate either in person or on zoom.

May will be a busy month with everyone winding down both Hebrew and Religious school for this school year. A notice will be going out soon for our annual Congregational meeting in June. Believe it or not, this time in 2013, we had just hired a new secretary to take the place of our secretary who was moving away. Stephanie Johnson has been with me during my last term as president as well as this one. Thank you for all you do. I know I don’t say it enough, and it takes a lot to make everyone here happy, and you do it so well.

In that same vein, the weather is still a bit unusual for this time of year, and the pollen count is extremely high, so be sure and take extra precautions to avoid springtime colds, allergies, and any remaining flu or COVID still hanging around. Please make good use of handwashing and antiseptic. While masking is no longer required, please feel free to wear your mask anytime if it makes you more comfortable. As always, CSI encourages everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated as our current policy requires everyone to be vaccinated to attend services, etc. The Board of Governors will be reviewing our policy again to make sure we are consistent and up to date with the current state of COVID in our area. Depending on the COVID numbers, we will be looking to resume regular food service for Saturday kiddish lunch and Friday night dinners. We also hope to reinstitute pre-Kol Nidre dinner this fall. I am looking for volunteers as there are many tasks involved to accomplish these dinners. Please call or email me if you are interested in helping.

Hope all of you have a great month! See all of you in shul!

Shalom!
