A Rest From Our Celebrations

Dear Congregants,
We’ve made it! From Selichot through Simchat Torah, we davened, sang, fasted and ate (and ate, and ate!) due to the hard work and generosity of many in our Kehilla. Yasher Koach to all who participated in services over this past month of high holy days and festivals. Thank you to Rabbi Aaron and his family and to the many members of our congregation who helped to make these events so rewarding. Thanks to the Koplin, Wengier, Richards and Rubinstein families for hosting the delicious Sukkah Hops we’ve attended. And special thanks to Shelley Davidson, Dan Wengier and friends for preparing our Kol Nidre dinner and Break-the-Fast meals.

While we can rest from our celebrations for a few of the coming weeks, we welcome Thanksgiving at the end of November. I hope that yours will be most enjoyable. And then we will gear up for Hanukkah. CSI will hold our yearly Hanukkah Family Night in December; more information will follow in the coming days and weeks. You’ll want to make reservations for this meal, once the date has been publicized.

Don’t forget the Annual Fund! Many thanks to those who have contributed to our Fund Drive over the course of the past few months. We still need to hear from the rest of you, so please, please remember Sha’arey Israel as you make your gifts this season to all the non-profits on your list. We are depending on everyone in the CSI family to help us meet our goal for the year. Please give as much as you can, and remember: no amount is too small.

For another way to support CSI, think about sponsoring a Shabbat lunch in memory of a loved one who has passed or to honor a living family member or friend. These donations begin at $36.00 and will be listed in the bulletin and announced from the bimah. Now that summer has finally left us and we can enjoy the (slowly!) cooling weather, I wish everyone the best of health and happiness in the months to come.

L’Shanah Tova,
Jan
