May is here! Another new month and another new edition of the bulletin. For a “smaller” shul, the calendar of events at CSI is always full! April had Passover services, a beautifully appropriate and meaningful Yom HaShoah service, two student Confirmations at the last Friday night service and another well attended film night this past Sunday graciously hosted by congregants Jami and Jimmy Gaudet. In May, students, parents and teachers can look forward to a fun last day of Religious School with certificates, awards and activities. Also in May elections are held for new Officers and some Committee Chairs who officially begin their terms June 1st. All throughout the year, the collaborative efforts of dedicated volunteers and employees make each month unique with services and special events. Whether it is a visit from a Scholar in Residence, a field trip to the Alliance Theatre, a Hanukkah Family night dinner or any number of other occasions, the effort is made to enrich your spiritual experience while being mindful of financial considerations and other factors. It’s a process that doesn’t take a “vacation” during the summer. Believe it or not, the very first efforts at planning the calendar for next year’s Religious School have already begun as well as looking ahead to begin organizing for next season’s Directory fundraiser!
I will have more thoughts to share as outgoing President at the Annual Congregational Meeting. But as I write my last bulletin article in this capacity, I want to say what an honor it has been to have experienced this leadership position for the past two years. There have been joys and challenges and a multitude of cherished moments along the way. I have observed first hand the dedication and loyal support from congregants, the rabbi, and others, that make CSI the enduring place that it is for our collective spiritual enhancement, education and fellowship. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Best regards,
Theresa
